Bamboo Snack Box ✖ Yunnan Bamboo Artisans

The two hand-woven bamboo snack boxes were designed together by YIQI and bamboo weaving artisans in Yunnan Province. The bamboo used in the project was harvested locally in Cangyuan County, known for its abundant bamboo resources and the unqiue geographical location bordering  Myanmar. The locals have been financially dependent on bamboo for decades, but young locals are leaving their hometown in search for better opportunities. The craft is facing a discontinuation with fewer people engaged in the craft. By connecting the local artisans with contemporary craft opportunities in big cities, the craft will be consistently performed by craftsmen and craftswomen and the complicated techniques will persist.
